Horizon Riders Now Available on WiiWare in North America

October 7, 2011

Sabarasa announced today that Horizon Riders, an entertaining and challenging arcade game, is available exclusively for Nintendo’s WiiWare™ service for 800 Wii Points™ in North America.

Horizon Riders combines the Wii Balance Board™ and the Wii Zapper™ (both optional) for a truly unique arcade experience.

Horizon Riders allows players to control any of the four squad members on their mission to defeat Thau-Phi, dashing at high-speed through the surface of planet Zethos on powerful hoverboards while destroying the renegade cybernetic army with their futuristic arsenal. Each character carries two weapons, each with different rates of fire, damage and bullet spread and these weapons can be upgraded through use.

The hoverboard can be controlled with a Wii Balance Board, allowing players to turn left and right to avoid enemy fire using their own bodies. The game also supports the use of the Wii Zapper for aiming and firing.

A demo version of the Horizon Riders is available today and for four weeks. This demo version features three levels and one of the four Riders that are available in the full version.

Horizon Riders is the first WiiWare game both created and published by Sabarasa. Upcoming projects include Protocol, a local and online team-based first-person shooter, also to be available on WiiWare.

Protocol Reveal on January issue of Nintendo Power!

December 20, 2010

We have hinted at our upcoming WiiWare title Protocol for some time now, and thanks to the cool cats at Nintendo Power we can finally share our new game with the world. The January issue of Nintendo Power carries a two-page exclusive world reveal of Protocol! So if you want to get some details on our upcoming first-person shooter of Nintendo’s download service, go hit the newsstands (Page 22, in case you don’t want to browse)!

We are very honored to be featured at Nintendo Power and we hope you like how the game’s shaping up so far. Now, between you and me, why Protocol didn’t get the cover is beyond me. I mean, who the hell is this Mario guy, anyway?

Alt-Play: Jason Rohrer Anthology coming to Nintendo DSiWare™ on January 3 rd!

December 13, 2010

The New Year is coming up, and you know what that means: alcohol-induced New Year’s resolutions that you will never fulfil. Start a diet, quit smoking, learn to play the bass-guitar and be nicer to your in-laws are some of the always popular resolutions nobody ever follows come the new year.

We gamers tend to have a few more, like “I’m not going to sign up for that MMO again” or “I’m going to finally get around finishing Braid”. But you will sign up for that MMO for another six months and you will replace that great game you’ve been meaning to finish for some mindless space-marine shooter thingy. It’s OK, we all do it.

But here is a chance to atone for broken promises of the past! We are proud to announce Alt-Play: Jason Rohrer Anthology will hit the American Nintendo DSi Shop on January 3rd at a mere 200 Nintendo Points! That means you now can raise you glass and swear you are going to clean up your gaming act and actually do it the following Monday*!

Alt-Play: Jason Rohrer Anthology includes some of the best games of gamer auteur Jason Rohrer: Passage, Gravitation and Between (featuring both Wireless Play and Download Play). Every title comes with developer’s commentary and the compilations features a preface written by Indie extraordinaire Daniel Benmergui.

The European version of the game is still awaiting a release date, but we hope to have some news for you this very week.

For more information, visit Alt-play.com.

* If you are so inclined to continue your mindless shooter habits, be sure to look out for Horizon Riders coming to Nintendo WiiWare™ soon!

Meet The Crew of Horizon Riders

November 26, 2010

Roaming through the farthest reaches of space, the DST Horizon hunts for trouble (and a pay-check) on humanity’s newest frontier. Led by the fearless Kraig Ryder, the ship’s crew is composed of individuals with special combat skills. Those abilities, useful as they may be for mercenary operations, have been acquired at a heavy personal cost and have turned their wielders into social outcasts and rejects.

Here we offer you a glimpse into the lives of all four playable characters in our upconing WiiWare release, Horizon Riders:
